Happy New Year, readers! I’ve been away from the blog for a couple weeks due to the holidays, and I hope y’all are having a wonderful start to your year. The new year is all about making resolutions, which brings me to today’s topic, my 2018 reading resolutions.
Read More Nonfiction
This past year, I read Anne Frank’s diary and other nonfiction works. This isn’t a genre I read often, but I found it absolutely fascinating. Reading those stories, particularly those of a historical nature, encouraged me to add more nonfiction works to my TBR for 2018. As a fan of historical fiction, it makes sense that I’m intrigued by factual accounts, as well, so I’m excited to explore more of them.
Don’t Pressure Yourself
I set a reading goal on Goodreads (and if we aren’t friends there, come find me here!), and I did this to keep myself motivated this year. At the same time, I don’t want it to have a negative effect. I’ve talked before about putting pressure on myself to read because that’s when reading becomes a job, not a recreational activity. This year, I want to meet my reading goals, but I want to have fun doing it.
Read More Historical Fiction
Y’all knew this would be one of my 2018 reading resolutions, didn’t you? 🙂 If you’ve followed my blog before now, you know how much I love World War II historical fiction. I want to learn even more about this fascinating era, and I want to branch out into other time periods, too. One of the things I love most about reading is learning from the books I pick up, so I want to keep expanding my knowledge this year. I’ll read other genres, of course, but histfic is my favorite, so I hope to find some new and intriguing historical works. I just might reread some favorites, too!
So there y’all have it, my 2018 reading resolutions! Let me know if you’ve set any reading goals for yourself this year, and make sure to follow along to see how I do with my resolutions. Happy 2018, bookworms!
